February 27, 2008: Railway Minister Lalu Prasad announced that the Rs 4,510-crore Mumbai Urban Transport Project-II (MUTP-II) will be completed during the Eleventh Plan. However, this has received a sceptical response from commuters, experts and political parties alike. Moreover MUTP-I, its precursor, is already behind schedule by at least two years.

December 5, 2007: The Cochin Port plans to increase its revenue from other cargo operations, especially liquefied natural gas, after state-run BPCL's Kochi refinery starts handling its imported crude oil at its own facility. The port is presently charging Rs 65 per tonne as wharfage for crude oil and other products at the port and handles 10 million tonnes of cargo, port chairman N Ramachandran said.
