May 3, 2010: Ambuja Cements Ltd, India's No. 3 cement maker, reported April shipments rose 15.6 percent from a year ago to 1.90 million tons.
The company, in which Swiss cement maker Holcim holds about 46 percent, said production in April rose to 1.91 million tons from 1.65 million tons a year earlier.
The company's production stood at 19.07 lakh tons in April this year as against 16.51 tons in the year-ago period.
The company dispatched 18.95 lakh tons in April 2010, as against 16.39 lakh tons during the same period last year, a statement issued by the company here said.
Between January and April this year, the firm produced 72.44 lakh tons of cement compared to 66.10 lakh tons in the same period last year.
